The inspiration for the Hospitality House started when one of our parishioners stayed in a similar house in Longview, TX, while her relative was receiving treatment. Seeing how the availability of free housing had helped her in a difficult time, she was inspired to start a similar project at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. When a property next to the church became available, she was able to purchase it and the dream became a reality. CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
After demolishing the original 1917 house, groundbreaking for the new house was held on Saturday September 12, 2015. For a year, our capable parishioners spearheaded the project and were willing to put in the sweat equity to build the house from the ground up. Local businesses were willing to donate their time and services or give discounts to support the project. Once the construction was finished, the Hospitality House was furnished by parishioners, local businesses and contributions from Mt. View Hospital. A Grand Opening and ribbon cutting was held by the Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the Green Chamber of Commerce with a blessing by Bishop Michael Vono of the Episcopal Diocese of New Mexico.
